Overview

Central East is a primarily residential neighbourhood defined as the area bounded on the north by Rossland Road, on the east by Lakeridge Road/Highway 23, on the south by Highway 401, and on the west by Salem Road.

Real Estate

Much of Central East real estate is concentrated in newer housing subdivisions scattered throughout the area, as much of Central East is still farmland or undeveloped. Central East homes for sale can be found on quiet, safe cul-de-sacs and crescents, with tree-lined streets and neatly manicured front lawns.

There is also open green space to be found around Central East homes for sale, as well as parks in residential developments, including Miles Park and Turnerbury Parkette.

Homes

Getting Around

Highway 401, which borders Central East on the south, is the fastest route to Toronto from this area. Other major roads in Central East include Highway 2 and Rossland Road. Salem Road provides a quick route to the lakeshore.

For rail commuters to Toronto, The Ajax GO station is less than ten minutes from Central East.

Shopping

Central East is located within just a few minutes’ ride from several shopping areas, both in Ajax and in nearby Pickering. The Pickering Town Centre is just ten minutes from Central East, and features a wide variety of favourite restaurants and retailers including Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Zumiez, and The Children’s Place.

Within Central East itself, an assortment of restaurants and retailers can be found along Kingston Road.

There are elementary and secondary schools located just a stone’s throw from Central East homes for sale, as well as several day care centres within Central East.

Entertainment

There are countless ways to have fun outdoors in and around Central East. For hiking and biking, the north part of the paved Carruthers Creek Trail runs right through the middle of Central East.

Just a few minutes south of Central East is Ajax’s unspoiled lakeshore. Lakeside Park is a must-see weekend destination, with its excellent views of the lake and its wildlife, as well as its playground and Waterfront Amphitheatre. Families can spend the day picnicking or strolling the lakefront trails.
