Aurora Estates is a prestigious neighbourhood that features estate properties as well as luxury gated communities. It is bounded on the north by Vandorf Sideroad, on the east by Bayview Avenue, on the south by Bloomington Road, and on the west by Industrial Parkway.

History

Elderberry Trails, an Aurora Estates subdivision, was built on land that once was belonged to Elderberry Hill Farm, the farm and equestrian show jumping venue of Jim Elder. Elder, born in 1934, competed in six Olympic Games. He won a bronze medal as a member of Canada’s Three-Day Event Team in 1956, and a

gold medal as a team jumper in 1968. He was inducted into Aurora Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Aurora Estates was still largely farmland until the 1970s, apart from some homes along the major streets. Since then, it has become one of Aurora’s premiere luxury communities.

Transportation

Aurora Estates is located just minutes away from Highway 404, which makes it very convenient for commuters to Toronto. The commute to Toronto from Aurora Estates takes less than an hour. It is also just east of Highway 400. For easy access to other neighbourhoods in Aurora, Aurora Estates is bisected by Yonge Street.

For rail commuters to Toronto, the Aurora GO Station (121 Wellington Street) is less than ten minutes away.

There is a wide variety of elementary and secondary schools in the vicinity. One secondary school in the area is Cardinal Carter Catholic High School (210 Bloomington Road). Other secular and religious schools are primarily found in surrounding neighbourhoods, particularly to the north and south of Aurora Estates. Public schools that serve the Aurora Estates community include Aurora Grove Public School and Highview Public School.
