Today, we're thrilled to announce that Stephen Furnival is joining Home.CA as Chief Information Officer, effective immediately. Stephen and I built WebsiteBox together from the ground up — and if you know that story, you know what this moment means. We're not hiring a stranger. We're welcoming home someone who has already proven he can scale technology and data infrastructure at the exact moment Canadian real estate needs it most.
The Full-Circle Moment
Let's rewind to what matters: Stephen architected our MLS Data Normalization engine — the system that could ingest fragmented, inconsistent data feeds from hundreds of regional MLS boards and turn them into clean, queryable truth. That engine was so robust that RocketHomes licensed it. That's not a small detail. That's proof of architecture that works at scale.
When WebsiteBox was acquired in 2022, that same technology moved into Questrade's hands, where Stephen stayed on as Senior Manager of Software Engineering. Over nearly four years, he led the post-acquisition systems integration of Zolo — a complex, high-stakes modernization effort. He rebuilt backend architecture, overhauled privacy and security posture, and shipped systems that now run one of Canada's largest property platforms. That's not theoretical work. That's production, scale, and accountability.
Now he's back.
"We built something real together at WebsiteBox," I told Stephen when we first talked about this role. "I've watched what you've done since. I know exactly what you're capable of. Come help us reimagine the homeownership journey, end to end."
He said yes.
Why This Matters Right Now
Home.CA isn't just a website. We're building a data-first home ecosystem — one where HomeGraph (our foundational property intelligence layer), HomeInsights (what buyers and sellers actually need to know), HomePro (tools for agents and brokers), and HomePoints (our rewards and engagement layer) all work together seamlessly.
That only happens if the technology and data infrastructure underneath are bulletproof.
We need a CIO who doesn't just manage technology — who thinks in systems, who understands data as a strategic asset, not a by-product. Stephen does both.
Welcome back, Stephen. Let's build something great.
What's Next
We're building Canada's home ecosystem from the ground up — not just a listing site, but a place where buyers discover, agents sell, and everyone benefits from better data. Explore what we're building at Home.CA!
