He worked briefly in Kingston and later in Guelph, but then in 1839 moved to Philadelphia where he married Sarah (picture available with Guelph Museums 1985.14.1 taken of Wm & Sarah in 1850) and remained until 1845. After he returned to Guelph, he became known as "Yankee" Kennedy and his cottage was referred to as "Yankee Cottage" Built of stone, (not brick which I have read) the cottage has since been covered with stucco.
