Central East is a primarily residential neighbourhood defined as the area bounded on the north by Rossland Road, on the east by Lakeridge Road/Highway 23, on the south by Highway 401, and on the west by Salem Road.

Much of Central East real estate is concentrated in newer housing subdivisions scattered throughout the area, as much of Central East is still farmland or undeveloped.
