However, the house was known for many years as the McNichol Estate, as Edythe’s daughter, Dorothy, married to a man named John Wallace McNichol, inherited the house after Edythe’s death.

Dorothy passed away in 1987, and the City of Burlington purchased the house from her children in order to preserve it.
